# Apograph

Apograph is an iPhone app from Sinergy Labs for recording and transcribing speech entirely on the device. OpenAI Whisper models run locally on the iPhone’s GPU, with automatic detection across 99 languages and support for offline use in Airplane Mode. No account is required, and recordings, transcripts and speaker labels stay on the device.

## Recording and Importing

Start a recording with one tap, Siri, the Action button or Control Center. Import audio or video from Files, Photos or the share sheet, including Voice Memos, meetings and saved lectures. Auto-stop ends a recording at a chosen time. If storage runs low, capture stops automatically and the recording is saved and transcribed. A Live Activity displays the timer and a Stop control on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island; with Auto-stop enabled, it also shows when recording will end.

## On-Device Transcription

Apograph offers three Whisper model tiers: Fast is included with the app, while Balanced and Best download once and remain on the device. Decoding uses stable settings to avoid random temperature drift between runs. The model picker indicates which tiers fit the iPhone’s available memory before downloading; Best requires more memory than some iPhones provide.

## Editing and Export

Transcripts contain timed sentences that can be tapped to play the corresponding passage. Edit words, names or entire sentences in place. A spell checker remembers custom names and terms and feeds that vocabulary back to the transcription model. Retranscribe a sentence or a whole recording with Best and compare the result before replacing the original. Copy or share transcripts, or export them as text, Markdown or PDF. Pro adds SRT and WebVTT subtitle exports with timings.

## Free and Pro Plans

The free plan includes unlimited recordings, Fast and Balanced models, all 99 languages, text, Markdown and PDF exports, and Best transcription on five recordings, either in full or by section. Apograph Pro is a one-time $14.99 USD in-app purchase, with no subscription. It unlocks the Best model, unlimited Best retranscriptions, speaker separation and subtitle exports. Speaker separation distinguishes voices within a recording, creates labels that can be renamed and carries those labels into every export. It does not identify whose voice it is.

## Files and Privacy

Each recording is stored as a plain folder in the Files app containing audio, metadata and transcript.txt, with readable date names. Users can choose where these folders are stored. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. According to its App Store description, network traffic is limited to fetching the model catalog, downloading a selected model and App Store purchase handling.

Apograph requires iOS 18.6 or later.
