# claude-devtools > A desktop app that reconstructs exactly what Claude Code did — every file path, tool call, and token — from session logs on your machine. claude-devtools is a free, open-source desktop application that provides complete visibility into Claude Code sessions by parsing the session logs already stored on your machine. Unlike the terminal's limited summaries, this tool reconstructs every detail of what Claude Code actually did, including file paths, tool calls, token usage, and more — all without requiring API keys or configuration. - **Context Reconstruction** provides per-turn token attribution across 7 categories including CLAUDE.md files, skill activations, @-mentioned files, tool I/O, thinking, team overhead, and user text. Visualizes how context fills, compresses during compaction, and refills so you can see exactly what was in the window at any point. - **Tool Call Inspector** displays syntax-highlighted Read calls, inline Edit diffs, Bash output, and full subagent execution trees. Every collapsed "Read 3 files" summary gets expanded to show complete details. - **Team & Subagent Trees** render isolated execution trees per agent with their own tool traces, token metrics, duration, and cost. Nested agents display as recursive trees for complete visibility. - **Notification Triggers** enable system notifications with built-in alerts for .env file access, tool execution errors, and high token usage. Add regex triggers for sensitive paths, match specific tool fields, set token thresholds, and filter by trigger color. - **SSH Remote Sessions** let you inspect sessions on any remote machine over SSH. Reads ~/.ssh/config, supports agent forwarding and key auth, and allows instant switching between local and remote. - **Command Palette** opens with Cmd+K for cross-session search. Results show context snippets with highlighted keywords and navigate directly to the exact message. - **Multi-Pane Layout** enables opening multiple sessions side-by-side with drag-and-drop tabs between panes, split views, and parallel session comparison. To get started, simply download the appropriate installer for your platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux), open the app, and it will automatically read from ~/.claude/ — the session logs Claude Code already writes. No configuration required. Docker and self-hosted options are also available for browser-based access. ## Features - Context reconstruction with per-turn token attribution - Tool call inspector with syntax highlighting - Team and subagent execution trees - Notification triggers for sensitive file access - SSH remote session inspection - Command palette with cross-session search - Multi-pane layout for side-by-side comparison - Inline edit diffs - Bash output display - Token usage visualization - Context compaction tracking - Regex-based custom triggers - Docker and self-hosted deployment ## Integrations Claude Code, SSH, Docker ## Platforms WINDOWS, MACOS, LINUX, WEB, API ## Pricing Open Source ## Version 0.4.1 ## Links - Website: https://www.claude-dev.tools - Documentation: https://github.com/matt1398/claude-devtools - Repository: https://github.com/matt1398/claude-devtools - EveryDev.ai: https://www.everydev.ai/tools/claude-devtools
