# Claude SEO

Claude SEO is a free, open-source SEO analysis plugin for Claude Code, built and maintained by Agrici Daniel. It runs 25 sub-skills and 18 specialist agents in parallel, covering technical SEO, E-E-A-T content quality, Schema.org markup, Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), local SEO, e-commerce, and international SEO. The project is MIT-licensed and available on GitHub, where it has accumulated over 15,000 stars since launching in February 2026.

## What It Is

Claude SEO is a terminal-native SEO toolkit that plugs into Claude Code as a skill plugin. Rather than a browser-based dashboard, it operates entirely from the command line, coordinating up to 15 specialist agents simultaneously to produce a prioritized action plan with a 0–100 heuristic health score. Every recommendation carries a first-principle observation, dependency relationships, an explicit "how would we know this failed?" check, and a leading indicator — a design the project calls falsifiable auditing. The plugin works without any third-party API keys by default; audits contact only the target URLs you point them at.

## What It Covers

Claude SEO ships 32 user-invocable `/seo` commands organized across the orchestrator, 24 sub-skills, and 8 optional MCP extensions:

- **Full site audit** (`/seo audit`): up to 15 parallel specialist agents, weighted health score across content quality (23%), technical SEO (22%), on-page SEO (20%), schema (10%), performance (10%), AI readiness (10%), and images (5%)
- **Technical SEO** (`/seo technical`): crawlability, indexability, security, URL structure, mobile, Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS), structured data, JS rendering, IndexNow
- **E-E-A-T content** (`/seo content`): aligned with the September 2025 Quality Rater Guidelines, thin content detection, filler and AI-pattern detection
- **Schema markup** (`/seo schema`): detects, validates, and generates JSON-LD for active Schema.org types; tracks deprecated types including HowTo (removed Sept 2023) and FAQPage rich results (retired May 2026)
- **GEO / AI search** (`/seo geo`): passage citability scoring, question-based heading hierarchy, entity presence, AI crawler access, llms.txt evidence-based posture
- **Local SEO** (`/seo local`): Google Business Profile signals, NAP consistency, review intelligence, map pack factors, multi-location support
- **Additional skills**: backlinks (Common Crawl, Moz, Bing), hreflang/i18n, programmatic SEO, competitor comparison pages, semantic clustering, SEO drift monitoring with SQLite baselines, search experience optimization (SXO), e-commerce SEO, and Google API integration (GSC, PageSpeed Insights, CrUX, GA4, Indexing API)

Optional extensions add live SERP and keyword data via DataForSEO, full-site JS-rendered crawling via Firecrawl, AI image generation via Banana/Gemini, and integrations with Ahrefs, SE Ranking, Profound, and Bing Webmaster Tools.

## Architecture and Setup

The plugin follows a 3-layer architecture (directive, orchestration, execution). Skills and agents are auto-discovered from `skills/seo-*/` and `agents/seo-*.md`. The orchestrator handles industry auto-detection across five business types — SaaS, local service, e-commerce, publisher, and agency — and tailors recommendations accordingly.

Installation takes one command on macOS, Linux, or Windows:

A plugin marketplace path is also available for Claude Code 1.0.33+. Requirements are Python 3.10+, Git, and the Claude Code CLI. Playwright Chromium is optional but needed for SPA rendering (Next.js, React, Vue, Nuxt, Astro).

## Update: v2.2.5 — Reliability and Google Currency

The latest release is **v2.2.5**, published August 25, 2026. The v2 line represents the largest release in the project's history, shipping across six build phases:

- **Phase A**: Headless rendering via Playwright Chromium for SPA-aware audits
- **Phase B**: QRG-aligned content quality gates, filler detector, expired-domain heritage check
- **Phase C**: LCP subpart decomposition via CrUX, Speculation Rules and bfcache detection, IndexNow submitter
- **Phase D**: Four new schema generators, e-commerce schema validator, dual validator (Rich Results Test + Schema Markup Validator)
- **Phase E**: Five new MCP extensions (Ahrefs, SE Ranking, Profound, Bing Webmaster, Unlighthouse), parasite-SEO risk scanner
- **Phase F**: GBP deprecation linter, DMA consent-mode-v2 diagnostic, machine-translation QA flag

Since v2.0.0, point releases have addressed security hardening (SSRF and credential-injection fixes in v2.2.0), Lighthouse 13.4.0 alignment and full command audit (v2.2.1), GBP Q&A corrections (v2.2.2), and managed cross-platform runtime with GSC pagination fixes (v2.2.4). Test coverage grew from 39 tests in v1.9.9 to 410 passing tests across the v2 line. The GitHub repository reports 15,389 stars and 2,268 forks as of late August 2026.

## Community and Ecosystem

Claude SEO is part of a family of Claude Code skills built by Agrici Daniel, including Claude Blog (content writing optimized by SEO findings), Claude Banana (AI image generation), and Codex SEO (a Codex-first port). Community contributors from the AI Marketing Hub Pro challenge shipped four skills in v1.9.0: semantic clustering (`seo-cluster`), SXO (`seo-sxo`), SEO drift monitoring (`seo-drift`), and e-commerce SEO (`seo-ecommerce`).
