# Dash

> A desktop workspace that connects your machines so you and AI coding agents or local open weight models can work across them.

Dash is a beta desktop workspace from Blackboard that brings a user's computers together into one work surface. It runs terminal coding agents such as Codex and Claude Code, hosts open weight models on machines the user owns, and includes a built-in Git GUI and a web bookmark browser. It is available on macOS, Windows, and Linux, with Dash Web for browser access.

## What It Is

Dash is a workspace for people who work across several machines, such as a laptop, a Linux workstation, and a desktop that runs models. Projects, terminals, a browser, and Git live in one interface, and connected machines appear side by side. Dash Desktop works locally without an account; a free account connects machines and enables Dash Web.

## Agents and local models

Coding agents run in a real terminal on the machine where the project lives. The same session can be opened from another device, and the running process stays on its host machine, which must remain online and running Dash. Users can download a supported open weight model onto one machine and use it from another, with access to files, commands, and projects on the machines they authorize. Compatible assistants can reach Dash's tools through Local MCP, or through hosted Relay MCP for compatible cloud assistants. Third-party model subscriptions are separate and not included.

## Web slates and Git review

A website can be saved as a web slate bookmark with custom preload scripts that hide ads, remove distractions, or change a site's appearance. The URL and scripts stay together in the bookmark and reopen next to a project in Dash Desktop. The built-in Git GUI shows diffs, stages files, and manages commits, branches, history, stashes, and repository sync, including for projects on another connected machine.

## Privacy and connectivity

Dash says traffic between its clients is end-to-end encrypted, including through its relay. Hosted Relay MCP is an exception: the hosted service and the connected assistant can read the tool inputs and results the user authorizes. Dash states that it does not automatically upload or replicate project files.
