# Deskless

> A native iOS and Android mobile coding workspace with built-in Git and reviewable bring-your-own-key AI agents.

Deskless is a native mobile coding workspace for iPhone, iPad and Android from Lowcountry Code Labs LLC. It combines a code editor, built-in Git and an AI Agent Mode that edits a private draft and waits for approval before writing changes. Version 3.0 is listed as available on the App Store and Google Play.

## What It Is

Deskless is a mobile development environment for working on real repositories away from a laptop. You can browse folders, keep multiple files open, search, preview Markdown and HTML, and use touch or a hardware keyboard. Phone and tablet layouts are purpose-built for each platform. Projects are stored locally on the device, and credentials use secure OS storage.

## How Agent Mode Works

Agent Mode turns a request into a repo-aware workflow. The agent explores the repository, edits a private draft, and runs the project's checks on the device. It then shows a patch for review file by file and hunk by hunk before anything is written. Tasks save checkpoints, can work on their own branch, and can be resumed after interruption. On iOS, tasks can continue after switching apps when the OS allows it, with Live Activities and Dynamic Island progress. On Android, a notification keeps agent tasks running in the background. Cloud agent features use your own API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI or OpenRouter, or Sign in with Grok. A beta offline agent on supported Apple Intelligence devices and an experimental Gemini Nano agent on supported Android devices are also described.

## Git and Code Navigation

You can clone over HTTPS or SSH, inspect status and diffs, commit, pull and push. Pull and merge requests can be reviewed on GitHub, GitLab and Forgejo, including CI checks, inline comments, suggested changes and merge. The editor offers Go to Definition, Find References, Rename and Quick Fix. Pure npm and Python packages can be installed for offline use, SQL runs with SQLite, and async code can be debugged. Workspace layouts include Split Editor and Editor + Tools, with fold-aware options for iPhone Duo and tabletop tools on Android foldables.

## Privacy Model

The site states that Deskless has no ad SDKs, no code analytics and no Deskless AI proxy. When cloud AI is used, selected code and context go to the chosen provider.
