# Locally Uncensored

> Free, open-source desktop AI studio combining local chat, image and video generation, a coding agent and agent mode, with an optional hosted cloud.

Locally Uncensored is a free, AGPL-3.0 licensed desktop app that runs AI models on your own computer. Chat, Create (images, video, audio), Code and Agent live as tabs in one window, with a first-start wizard that detects or installs an engine. An optional hosted twin, LU Cloud, runs in a browser for machines without a suitable GPU.

## What It Is

It is an all-in-one local AI studio for Windows, Linux and Apple Silicon Macs (macOS in beta). In local mode, chat, agent runs and image and video generation happen on your machine, and the app states it has no analytics kit and sends no crash reports. It installs like a normal app, with no Docker or terminal required.

## Workflow and Outputs

- **Chat:** model picker with abliterated models that answer without refusals, vision input, document chat, memory, personas, voice (beta) and import of ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini exports.
- **Create:** text to image, edit, inpainting, background removal, video, image-to-video, extend, motion control, talking character, music and Character Studio LoRA training, via a ComfyUI the app manages. Upscale and Erase Object run in the cloud only.
- **Code:** a coding agent that shows a diff before applying changes, runs tests, and supports Ask, Plan and Bypass modes and per-project rules.
- **Agent:** web search, file read/write, shell, code execution and MCP servers, with a permission gate and background agents.

## Engines and Models

The app detects twelve local engines, including Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp and vLLM, and ships its own LU Engine. The model manager marks which models fit your hardware. Cloud providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter can be added with your own keys.

## Remote Access and Cloud

Remote access lets a phone use the PC over LAN or a Cloudflare tunnel, paired by QR code and a six-digit passcode, and is off until enabled. The project notes the tunnel is encrypted to Cloudflare but not end to end. LU Cloud offers hosted chat, image and video models and an OpenAI-compatible API; computer control (beta) is also documented.

## Current Status

The current release is v3.0.6, published 2026-10-11. The macOS build is beta and Apple Silicon only; the Windows installer is currently unsigned, which can trigger SmartScreen or antivirus warnings.
