# MaiBot

MaiBot (also called 麦麦 / MaiSaka) is an open-source, LLM-based interactive agent developed under the Mai-with-u GitHub organization. It is designed to take part in group chats in a natural, human-like style, remembering users and adapting to the conversations it joins. The project is released under GPL-3.0, and its latest listed release is 1.3.7.

## What It Is

MaiBot is a conversational agent framework and bot that connects to chat platforms through adapters. The documentation lists QQ, email and iMessage adapters. Rather than acting as a task-oriented "helpful assistant", it aims for a lifelike presence: short and long casual replies instead of long markdown-style answers. It decides when to speak and when to stay silent based on the mood of the chat.

## Memory, Learning and Personality

The docs describe an A-Memorix memory engine that retains past interactions and combines them with a psychology-based personality model to build a picture of each user's information, preferences and speaking style. In multi-person chats, MaiBot imitates other participants' speaking styles and works out new slang on its own.

## Management and Extension

A WebUI console covers configuration, chat, memory, emoji, and a plugin marketplace. It supports configuration hot reload and visual inspection of memory and knowledge bases. Extension paths in the docs include writing plugins through an API and event system, building adapters for new chat platforms, switching or self-hosting model services, connecting external tools via MCP configuration, controlling the bot through a WebUI API, and exporting chat statistics.

## Setup Path

Users can deploy from source following the manual, or use the MaiBot OneKey launcher for Windows and macOS. The repository has a stable main branch and a dev branch for in-progress features. Python 3.12+ is indicated.
