# Mike

> Open-source legal AI platform for document review, drafting, legal research, and reusable workflows that can be self-hosted.

Mike (MikeOSS) is an open-source legal AI platform from the open-legal-products organization, covering document review, drafting, and legal research. It combines a Next.js frontend, an Express backend, Supabase Auth/Postgres, and Cloudflare R2-compatible object storage. It can be run from a cloud-hosted version or deployed from source under the AGPL-3.0 license. The latest listed release is v0.4.0.

## What It Is

Mike is a web-based legal AI workspace. Users upload contracts and diligence documents into matter-scoped projects, then work with an assistant that reads the documents, answers with citations, and drafts or edits contracts. The product site describes the assistant as capable of researching case law and running multi-step workflows end-to-end.

## Core Workflows

- **Assistant chat:** Chat with legal documents and open matters, review documents and apply suggested edits.
- **Projects:** Organize matters into projects, folders, and a document library, keeping context across conversations.
- **Tabular review:** Spreadsheet-style extraction across many documents in parallel, with cells cited back to a page and quote according to the product site.
- **Workflows:** Save prompts as reusable assistant or tabular-review workflows, such as credit agreement review, NDA review, and conditions precedent checklists. System workflows are maintained in a separate mike-workflows repository.
- **Research and citations:** Verify citations and research US case law through CourtListener.

## Models, Integrations, and Deployment

Mike works with Anthropic, Gemini, or OpenAI API keys, and supported models can be run locally through Ollama. The documentation covers MCP connectors, Google Drive, optional Gmail and Google Calendar connections (write actions need separate consent and explicit approval), and a beta Microsoft Word task-pane add-in. The included Docker Compose stack runs Mike, Supabase, RustFS object storage, and local email capture for local development. By default Mike sends scrubbed error reports to Sentry, which can be disabled with SENTRY_DISABLED=true.

## Open-Source Model

The project states that self-hosting keeps documents within the operator's own perimeter, and that users can fork the code, add practice-specific workflows, and inspect how prompts and citations are handled. Bundled public contract templates retain their publishers' separate licenses.
