# Modem

> Modem is an AI product execution teammate that aggregates customer feedback from Slack, Discord, GitHub, and more to help teams prioritize, triage, and ship better software.

Modem is an AI-native product workspace built by Modem Labs, a team with backgrounds at Sentry, Vercel, and Treasury Prime. It connects to the places where users already talk — Slack, Discord, GitHub, Linear, email — and uses AI to surface what customers care about, automatically cluster feedback, and take action on it. The product is actively available with a free tier and paid plans, and is SOC 2 certified.

## What It Is

Modem positions itself as an "AI teammate" for product execution. It ingests signals from customer support tools, chat platforms, project trackers, and revenue data, then organizes that information into a real-time discussion graph. Rather than requiring manual tagging or triaging, Modem automatically discovers topics, categorizes feedback by type (bug reports, feature requests, praise, complaints), and links people across platforms into unified profiles. The result is a single workspace where product managers, founders, and engineering teams can understand what users actually want — and act on it without bottlenecks.

## How the Agent Works

The Modem Agent is the core action layer. It can be prompted directly in natural language or triggered automatically via scheduled tasks and event-based automations. Concrete capabilities include:

- Creating context-rich tickets in Linear or Jira from chat conversations
- Delegating coding tasks to Cursor Cloud Agents, Devin, or Claude Code with full user feedback context included in the task brief
- Drafting release notes tailored to specific stakeholders, generated from GitHub PRs and Linear tickets
- Notifying customers when their requested features ship
- Running recurring digests, triage reports, and custom automations defined in plain English

The agent uses models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google (the pricing FAQ references Claude Opus 4.6, GPT 5.2, and Gemini 3.1 Pro as examples), with the ability to choose faster models for simpler automation tasks.

## Integration Ecosystem

Modem plugs into a broad set of tools across several categories:

- **Customer support:** Zendesk, Intercom, Jira Service Desk
- **Chat & social:** Slack, Discord, Email, X (coming soon)
- **Project management:** Linear, Jira, Notion, GitHub
- **Product & revenue data:** Stripe, Salesforce, PostHog, Amplitude (coming soon), Mixpanel (coming soon)
- **Coding agents:** Cursor, Devin, Claude Code
- **Agent tools:** Web search, image generation, MCP-compatible servers

MCP support means any MCP-compatible server can be connected without a custom integration.

## Who It's Built For

According to the documentation, Modem serves four primary audiences:

- **Product Managers** who want a centralized view of all user feedback without manual triaging
- **Founders** who need to understand customer pain points and priorities in real time
- **Engineering Teams** that need context-rich bug reports with full discussion history
- **Customer Success** teams tracking sentiment and engagement patterns across customers

## Team and Backing

Modem Labs was co-founded by Ben Vinegar (previously Founding Engineer and VP Engineering at Sentry) and Mike Clarke (previously CPO at Treasury Prime). The team also includes alumni from Vercel, Google, Fitbit, and Sentry. The company is backed by Accel and Inovia Capital, along with individual investors including David Cramer and Chris Jennings from Sentry, Ivan Zhang from Cohere, and Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk from Framer.
