# Nomina MCP

> A read-only MCP server that gives AI agents sourced, dated market data from public sources such as Chainlink, SEC EDGAR, US Treasury, BLS and GDELT.

Nomina MCP is a markets research server for AI agents from Nomina. It exposes five read-only tools over public data, so Claude and other MCP clients can answer market questions with the source, observation date and caveats attached. It is available as a hosted endpoint, a Claude Desktop bundle, a Gemini CLI extension and a self-hostable container image.

## What It Is

Nomina MCP is a Model Context Protocol server for market research. An agent can search for symbols, pull an asset's latest value, period change, drawdown and volatility, compare assets, get a market snapshot, or retrieve company financials. It requires no account or API key and does not provide trading access.

## The Five Tools

- search_markets finds symbols in the catalog (on-chain feeds, Treasury tenors, macro series, SEC registrants) plus recent headlines.
- research_asset returns dated history and headlines for one symbol over a named period or an exact date window.
- compare_assets aligns 2-6 symbols on shared observation dates, each in its own unit. Prices are shown in percent and yields in percentage points, and mixed units are flagged rather than blended.
- market_overview gives period changes for BTC, ETH, SOL, gold, SPY, QQQ, EUR/USD, US 2y and 10y yields and CPI in one call.
- company_fundamentals returns the latest annual and quarterly figures from 10-K and 10-Q filings for US-GAAP filers, with filing links.

Every tool declares readOnlyHint, so hosts can run them without confirmation prompts.

## Data Sources and Limits

Data comes from Chainlink Data Feeds read from Ethereum mainnet, the US Treasury par yield curve, Bureau of Labor Statistics series, SEC EDGAR XBRL filings, and GDELT article records. The site states that on-chain feeds update on heartbeat or deviation, so a daily close can lag an exchange close. Nomina says it returns published data and simple arithmetic, not financial advice.

## Setup Path

Add https://mcp.nomina.io/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, register it in Claude Code with a single command, or install the Nomina.mcpb bundle in Claude Desktop. Gemini CLI installs it from the repository. The server can also be self-hosted in a container. The site states that the hosted tier sleeps when idle, so the first request can take up to a minute. Nomina states that it stores no queries or conversations. The roadmap lists cross-session memory and monitors as planned work and agentic actions as under exploration.
