# PRP (Product Requirement Prompts)

> A collection of Claude Code skills and prompts that package PRDs, codebase context and validation steps for AI-assisted development.

PRP (Product Requirement Prompts) is an open-source collection of prompts and Agent Skills for AI-assisted development with Claude Code, created by Rasmus Widing. A PRP combines a PRD, curated codebase intelligence and an agent runbook, giving a coding agent what it needs to deliver a vertical slice of working software. It is distributed as the `prp-core` plugin, as individually copyable skills, or by cloning the repository.

## What It Is

PRP is a methodology plus a set of slash-command skills for Claude Code. Unlike a traditional PRD, which says what to build and why, a PRP adds context (file paths, library versions, code snippets), patterns (existing codebase conventions) and validation (executable commands the AI runs to verify its work). The stated goal is one-pass implementation success through comprehensive context.

## Core Workflow and Skills

The skills cover the path from idea to reviewed pull request:

- `/prp-prd` generates an interactive PRD with an implementation phases table.
- `/prp-plan` creates an implementation plan from a PRD or free-form input.
- `/prp-implement` executes and validates a plan, commits the work and opens a PR.
- `/prp-review` performs a code review of a PR, and `/prp-commit` and `/prp-pr` handle commits and pull requests.
- `/prp-issue` takes an issue, plan or idea through a reviewed PR and green CI.
- `/prp-debug` diagnoses a root cause and publishes the evidence to the matching GitHub issue.
- `/prp-codebase-question` and `/prp-research-team` support codebase research with parallel agents.

## Autonomous Loop and Parallel Work

`/prp-loop` runs plan, implement-with-PR and review stages headlessly, one `claude -p` session per stage, and loops review and fix until the PR review is clean. It supports `--until`, `--max-cycles`, `--validate` and `--resume`, with state in `~/.prp/<project-key>/state/`. `/prp-orchestrate` coordinates parallel workstreams in git worktrees with review gates and merge sequencing. PRD phase tables track status, dependencies and which phases can run in parallel.

## Artifacts and Setup

PRDs, plans, research, reports and reviews are stored outside the repository under `~/.prp/<project-key>/`, shared across linked worktrees; `PRP_HOME` overrides the root. Install with the plugin marketplace commands, or copy skills into `.claude/skills/`. Older slash commands and templates are preserved in `old-prp-commands/`. The project is MIT licensed.
