SpriteGen is a web-based AI sprite creator for game developers, built by Luki. You describe a character and an action, pick a camera view and style, and get an animated sprite sheet as a transparent PNG. The site also offers a free browser pixel editor and related sprite tools.

## What It Is

SpriteGen generates pixel-art and illustrated sprite sheets from plain-language prompts, without needing animation skills or a rig. According to the About page, an LLM reads the character and action and plans each frame, then an image model draws the whole animation on one transparent sheet. Users get a live looping preview before downloading.

## Workflow and Outputs

You choose a view (side, top-down or isometric), a style from twelve built-ins, an action such as idle, walk, run, jump, attack, cast, hurt or death (or type your own), and 6, 8 or 12 frames. Top-down and isometric views support 8 directions, with each direction produced as its own sheet. A character reference image can help keep a character consistent across actions, and the Next action button continues with the same character. Exports include a transparent PNG with evenly spaced cells, a GIF, separate frames in a ZIP, or an atlas with Aseprite and TexturePacker JSON. The FAQ says sheets slice in Unity, Godot, GameMaker and Phaser, and notes that AI output may need manual adjustments.
