# WallHop

> A web tool that fetches news articles from a pasted link, with URL prefix, bookmarklet, iPhone Shortcut, raw and API access.

WallHop is a web service from wafflehacker.dev that lets you paste a link to an article and read the story without a paywall or signup. The site says it is heavily modified and tuned from the open-source everywall/ladder proxy, which is licensed under GPL-3.0.

## What It Is

WallHop is a link-based article reader. You paste a URL into the homepage, with no need to type https://, and it returns the article. The site positions it for one-off articles sent by someone from a site you will not visit again, and it asks readers to subscribe to the papers and news sites they read regularly.

## Ways to Use It

- Prefix any link with wallhop.io/ in the address bar.
- Drag a bookmarklet to your bookmarks bar.
- Use the iPhone Shortcut to hop an article from the Share button.
- Use the /raw/ and /api/ endpoints followed by a URL for raw or programmatic access.

## Relationship to Ladder

The upstream everywall/ladder project is a Go-based HTTP proxy. Per its README, it can modify request and response headers, inject custom HTML, CSS and JavaScript, apply domain-based rulesets, and emulate different user agents. It runs as a binary or Docker container. WallHop is a separately operated, tuned variant, and its own hosted feature set is described only on the homepage.
