Latest News
ManimGX 0.1.1 released with updated package metadata and GPU validation fixes.
ManimGX 0.1.0 released as the first release of Academa's open-source Rust/wgpu animation engine.
Academa launched publicly on Hacker News as a long-form STEM lecture-video product generated by LLMs.
Products & Services
A library of technical lecture videos generated from code, computer graphics and text-to-speech. The official catalog showed 66 maintained lectures spanning mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, physics and economics.
Users can request a technical lecture; paid plans add more generations and extensive chat with the videos. The underlying system uses an LLM to write lecture source code, renders the result, and provides chat that understands what is said and shown.
An open-source, MIT-licensed animation engine for agents, compatible with Manim Community Edition's Python API. It uses a Rust and wgpu GPU core to render 2D/3D math and technical videos, runs natively or in the browser, and is distributed through PyPI and npm.
Market Position
Academa differentiates from static recorded-course libraries through code-based, editable lectures that can be regenerated, corrected, translated and paired with contextual chat. Its ManimGX engine positions it against Manim Community Edition, ManimGL and Blender for programmatic mathematical/3D animation, emphasizing agent compatibility and substantially faster GPU rendering; the education product still competes with Khan Academy, Coursera, YouTube and human-produced technical lectures on quality, trust and pedagogy.

Founders
Sina Atalay
Princeton PhD student on leave; previously taught engineering on YouTube, built RenderCV, and researched at CERN as a technical student.
Abdullah Geduk
Penn State PhD student and computational scientist; has tutoring and teaching-assistant experience and has used more than 20 million core-hours on supercomputers for fluid-mechanics simulations.
Executive Team
Sina Atalay
Co-founder
Princeton PhD student on leave; former engineering educator on YouTube, RenderCV creator and former CERN technical student.
Abdullah Geduk
Co-founder
Penn State PhD student and computational scientist focused on fluid-mechanics simulation, with tutoring and teaching-assistant experience.
Founding Story
The co-founders wanted to address the fact that conventional lecture videos are difficult to correct, maintain and translate after production. Their initial vision was to treat lectures like software: write them as code, have an LLM generate the source, compile it into video with computer graphics and text-to-speech, and continuously improve the source over time.
Business Model
Revenue Model
