Products & Services
Open-source autonomous agent framework and computer assistant running in a Dockerized Linux environment. It can use a browser, execute code, create tools, maintain memory, delegate to subagents, and operate across files and desktop applications.
Desktop application that provides guided installation, Docker/runtime setup, updates, backups of /a0/usr, and management of local or remote Agent Zero instances on macOS, Linux, and Windows.
Command-line installer for creating Dockerized Agent Zero instances, including quick-start and headless/server workflows.
Connector that lets a sandboxed Agent Zero instance work with the host terminal, local files, browser, and desktop through an explicit bridge.
Market Position
Agent Zero positions itself as a transparent, open-source, self-hosted alternative to closed assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Manus, and Grok. Its differentiators are a full Linux computer, dynamic tool creation, inspectable prompts and plugins, local-or-cloud model choice, multi-agent delegation, and user ownership; the Linux Foundation comparison also distinguishes it from Open Interpreter by emphasizing a more autonomous, platform-flexible agent rather than a desktop mediation layer.
Leadership
Founders
Jan Tomášek
Czech software developer and AI, SAP/ABAP, blockchain, and Unity practitioner; he is identified by Agent Zero and the Linux Foundation as the project's founder and is listed as the company's managing director (jednatel).
Executive Team
Jan Tomášek
Founder and managing director (jednatel)
Founder of Agent Zero; the Project Paper and Linux Foundation profile describe his work creating the autonomous-agent architecture. Public professional-profile search results describe experience spanning AI agents, SAP/ABAP, blockchain, and Unity.
Founding Story
Agent Zero was founded in March 2024 by Jan Tomášek as an experiment to see whether an AI could autonomously write, execute, and refine its own code. The project evolved into an autonomous, self-improving AI companion and an open-source counterweight to centralized proprietary AI, with the initial vision that users should be able to customize and own their agents.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Agent Zero is distributed as free open-source software. The project's stated funding mechanism is the A0T token ecosystem, including the March 2025 token offering; it also provides token-staked access to Venice.ai API credits through its API proxy. The Linux Foundation profile described the project as having no commercial plans at the time of its interview.
Pricing Tiers
Self-hosted framework available under the MIT License; users provide and pay for their own selected model/API providers.
API quota is allocated proportionally to staked A0T and may use unused daily project credits dynamically; no conventional subscription tiers are shown.
