Founding Story
Altan was founded in 2024 in Barcelona by childhood friends Albert Salgueda and Tristán Pou. The company name is a portmanteau of the founders' first names. Before launching Altan, the duo ran a software agency together where Albert realized they were reinventing the wheel with every project. When AI tools like ChatGPT emerged, they recognized an opportunity to automate the development process and productize their agency services. They worked 16 to 18 hours a day for over a year while living with their parents to remain self-funded before seeking venture capital. They wanted to address the limitation that most software is useless without a human operator by building a platform where AI agents could operate the software themselves, moving from human-made static software to custom software made by and for AI agents.
