Market Position
Arcade.dev positions itself as the first unified agent action platform and 'SSO for AI Agents,' similar to what Okta did for SaaS cloud services. The company differentiates through: (1) Authorization-first architecture with OAuth 2.0 integration for secure agent authentication, (2) SOC 2 Type 2 certification for enterprise-grade security, (3) Catalog of 1000+ LLM-optimized tools and pre-built connectors, (4) Pioneering contributions to the Model Context Protocol (MCP) including URL Elicitation, (5) Just-in-time authorization and granular permission controls, (6) Data federation capabilities, (7) Flexible deployment options (cloud, VPC, on-premises). Competitors include Composio, Workato Enterprise MCP, and Merge Agent Handler. Arcade addresses the '70% failure wall' where AI agent projects die in security reviews by providing production-grade authorization infrastructure.

Founding Story
Arcade was founded in early 2024 by Alex Salazar and Sam Partee. They initially set out to build an AI agent for diagnosing website and mobile app problems (site reliability). During development, they discovered that the underlying infrastructure layer they created to connect large language models securely to various services was the real breakthrough. They pivoted from building a specific agent to providing the underlying authentication and tool-calling infrastructure for all AI agents. The founders emphasized maintaining high-quality engineering standards to counter the risks of rapid AI-generated code. Their vision involves AI agents that can handle communications, scheduling, and manage users' inboxes, calendars, and social media accounts securely.
