Founding Story
Biome was created as a community-led fork of Rome after Rome Tools, Inc. ceased operations. The maintainers sought to continue the vision of a fast, Rust-based toolchain that integrates formatting and linting into a single tool. In 2025, GritQL was donated to the project by Honeycomb and the Grit founders to serve as Biome's plugin engine.
