Founding Story
BLACKBOX AI was founded in 2019 by three co-founders: Richard Rizk (CTO), Robert Rizk (CEO), and Roger Rizk (COO). The company is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with presence in San Francisco. The founding team came together with a vision to revolutionize the software development industry by enabling engineers to harness the power of AI. Roger Rizk brought operational expertise from his background at EY, Siemens, and Dassault Systèmes, while Richard Rizk led the technical development with his education from McGill University. The company started with minimal external funding (seed round of $38.3K in January 2020) and has largely been self-sustained, growing to serve over 12 million developers globally by 2025.
