Builder.io, Inc.
Builder.io democratizes software development by providing a visual development platform that makes building accessible to everyone on any team, with any skillset, without compromise. The company's mission is to visualize real software so that anyone can be part of the building process.
Founding Story
Founders Steve Sewell and Brent Locks met on the campus of UC Berkeley in 2011 and have been friends and colleagues ever since. While leading engineering and product teams at ShopStyle (Rakuten), they experienced constant bottlenecks where the engineering backlog was overwhelmed with requests for landing pages and merchandising updates. They found that existing no-code tools either didn't integrate with their tech stack or still required heavy developer involvement. Frustrated by this problem, they decided to build a solution themselves that would empower non-technical teams to build and optimize digital experiences without relying on developers, while still working within existing tech stacks.
