Products & Services
Distributed, RESTful search and analytics engine/search database for structured, unstructured, vector, time-series, geospatial, and telemetry data; supports full-text, semantic, vector, hybrid search, reranking, and real-time analytics.
Suite comprising Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats, and Elastic Agent for ingesting, storing, searching, analyzing, and visualizing data.
Fully managed, usage-based serverless deployment for Search, Observability, and Security.
Managed resource-based deployment of Elastic solutions across public-cloud infrastructure.
Market Position
Elastic positions itself as a single, open Elasticsearch-based platform spanning enterprise/AI search, observability, and security rather than separate point products. It competes with search and vector platforms such as OpenSearch, Solr, Algolia, Coveo, and Glean; observability vendors such as Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana; and security/SIEM vendors such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto Networks.

Board of Directors
Founding Story
Shay Banon originally built search software for a recipe application for his wife, first developing Compass around Lucene and later rebuilding it as a distributed, scalable search engine. Elasticsearch was open-sourced before Banon, Schuurman, Boness, and Willnauer incorporated Elastic in Amsterdam in 2012 to build a company around the open-source project and make search and analytics broadly usable.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Subscription software and managed cloud services (Elastic Cloud Serverless and Hosted), self-managed subscription/licensing, and professional/support services. Serverless is usage-based; Hosted is resource-based; self-managed subscriptions are license-based by nodes and used RAM.
Pricing Tiers
Available for Search, Observability, and Security; Elastic offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.
Managed hosted deployment with subscription-dependent support tiers.
Pricing based on number of nodes and used RAM, with subscription/support options.
