Exafunction, Inc., now operating as Windsurf, is a Mountain View-based AI software company that developed the Windsurf Editor—the first AI-native integrated development environment (IDE) designed to keep developers in a state of flow by combining agentic intelligence with real-time collaboration tools. Formerly known as Codeium, the company was acquired by OpenAI in May 2025 for approximately $3 billion.
