Fathom is an AI-powered meeting intelligence platform that records, transcribes, and analyzes meetings in real-time, automatically generating summaries, action items, and insights to help teams stay present in conversations and eliminate manual note-taking.
Founding Story
Fathom was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown by serial entrepreneur Richard White. While conducting product research for his previous company UserVoice, White realized that manually taking and cleaning up notes during Zoom meetings was an inefficient process that distracted from conversations. He believed transcription would eventually become cheap and that AI would improve enough to generate high-quality notes. He saw a gap in the market as existing tools were too expensive and focused primarily on sales teams, so he set out to create a free, prosumer-focused AI notetaker for all meeting types.
