Firecrawl
Firecrawl provides infrastructure that makes web data work for AI: searchable, structured, and usable in production. Its API lets developers and AI agents search, scrape, crawl, map, parse, and interact with the live web and retrieve data from broader provider and index networks through Alexandria.

Products & Services
Commercially supported, developer-first API for web search, scraping, crawling, mapping, parsing, monitoring, structured extraction, and browser-like interaction.
Searches the web and returns full page content from results for agents and RAG pipelines.
Converts URLs into clean Markdown, structured JSON, screenshots, or semantic text, including prompt-defined extraction.
Crawl sites for page-level content and map site structure for discovery and large-scale extraction.
Market Position
Firecrawl positions itself as an open-source, developer-first web-data infrastructure layer that replaces assembling separate crawlers, browser automation, proxy, parsing, search, and post-processing vendors. It competes with platforms and components such as Apify, Bright Data, Zyte, SerpAPI, Exa, Puppeteer, and Playwright, while differentiating through one API, LLM-ready outputs, agent interaction, and Alexandria's combination of web access, licensed providers, connectors, and proprietary indexes.

Founding Story
The founders first built Mendable, an AI chat product for documentation, and found that obtaining clean, reliable web data was the hardest part of the AI stack. They started Firecrawl to provide the shared infrastructure—crawling, rendering, parsing, cleanup, and structured extraction—rather than forcing every AI application to rebuild it.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Credit-based SaaS/API model: customers subscribe to monthly credit plans, consume credits for search, scrape, crawl, map, monitor, and interaction usage, and paid plans can add pay-as-you-go credits. Enterprise customers receive custom credits, concurrency, support, and SLA terms. The hosted API is commercially supported while core infrastructure is open source.
Pricing Tiers
