Halfcycle
Halfcycle is a small firm and software product that supplies the product-owner, architect, planner, reviewer and build-team roles around AI coding agents. Its mission is to help solo developers and engineering organizations build production software with a disciplined, learning development process inside their own Claude Code or OpenAI Codex environments.

Introducing Halfcycle: the software team your AI engineer was missing
Products & Services
An installable workflow launched with npx halfcycle and run inside the customer's own Claude Code or OpenAI Codex account. It reads the repository, asks product and implementation questions, creates plain-Markdown project documents, coordinates agent builders and reviewers, and reports progress in a web console.
A layered delivery method covering setup, product specification, architecture, phases, readiness audit, feature specifications and execution, with gates, independent review, diagrams, invariants, task graphs and a cold walk of the deployed product.
Consulting engagements for engineering organizations: a two-week fixed-fee diagnostic of build flow, rework, specification/code alignment, review visibility and inference spend, followed by scoped hands-on phase work and handover. Fees are tied to agreed baseline-to-final measurements.
A hosted, coming-soon version intended to provide a guided product conversation, dashboard, gates and pull-request/build records without the customer running or hosting the method.
Market Position
Halfcycle positions itself as the missing software team around coding agents rather than as another coding agent, app builder or dev shop. Its comparisons name Base44, Lovable, Replit, Bolt, v0, Emergent, Superpowers, Spec Kit, BMAD and GSD Core as alternatives; the differentiation it claims is repository-owned code, planning before building, a full product-to-execution method, independent review of every piece, adaptive process and a console, while contrasting consulting against Big Four strategy work and staff-augmentation/dev-shop delivery.
Founding Story
Halfcycle says AI gave everybody the engineers but nobody the rest of the software team: decisions about what to build, architecture, slicing work into shippable pieces and independent review. The firm also exists to help engineering organizations adopting AI improve measurable productivity without taking an internal team off shipping; it positions its fixed-scope operator model between strategy consultancies and staff-augmentation/dev shops. It was backed by nuCode Tech Capital from the start.
Business Model
Revenue Model
The Solo product is free and runs against the user's own Claude or OpenAI usage. Team is sold per seat, while Sovereign is sold under negotiated contract with data-perimeter and residency controls. Consulting includes a two-week fixed-fee AI-Build Audit and outcome-measured hands-on engagements whose fees are tied to agreed baseline-to-final metrics.
Pricing Tiers
Full method and checks for one developer; no card required.
Same checks on every seat, written phase records and shared specifications kept in step with code.
Data-sovereignty perimeter, region and residency controls, and negotiated terms.
