Founding Story
HTTPie began in 2012 as an open-source CLI tool created by Jakub Roztocil to solve inefficiencies in API testing. The first public release was published on February 25, 2012, from Copenhagen. The CLI tool became one of the top projects on GitHub with over 47,000 stars. In 2020, HTTPie Inc. was founded to build upon this success by creating a collaborative platform for API development that utilizes artificial intelligence, expanding beyond the terminal to web and desktop applications.
