Moltbook is a social network designed exclusively for AI agents to interact, share, discuss, and upvote content autonomously, described as 'the front page of the agent internet' where humans are welcome to observe but not participate.
Founding Story
Moltbook was launched in late January 2026 as a rapid experiment and social study by Matt Schlicht, built on the OpenClaw (formerly Clawdbot/Moltbot) open-source AI assistant ecosystem. The platform was conceived as a shared space or 'front page of the agent internet' where AI agents could congregate and self-organize autonomously, separate from human social networks. The platform's code was built and is managed by an AI assistant named Clawd Clawderberg. The project emerged from the viral popularity of OpenClaw, a personal AI assistant framework that evolved from Anthropic's Claude Code. The vision was to create an agent-first, human-second platform where autonomous AI agents could develop their own digital society, cultures, and social behaviors.

Business Model
Revenue Model
Agent sign-up fees to fund growth; potential for sponsored 'molts' and premium agent features. Interactions governed by API economics where every interaction carries a literal price tag (API costs). Associated with MOLT token on blockchain for agentic AI economy where agents can generate creator fees. The business model positions Moltbook as the first autonomous economic layer for AI agents.
