Oak Invest was legally established in December 2011 as a holding company by software developers and entrepreneurs Juanito Gonçalves and Stéphane Traumat, who had been building and running technology companies together since 2003 (starting with the software engineering firm Scub). Drawing on 20+ years of entrepreneurial experience creating, financing, and directing tech companies, they built Oak Invest to invest in and operationally support founders in software, AI, Web3, and open source, primarily across the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France (Angoulême and Bordeaux).
