Founding Story
PearAI was founded in 2024 by Duke Pan and Nang Ang, two software engineers who left big tech positions at companies like Meta, Coinbase, and Two Sigma. After working in the 'bowels of Big Tech,' they sought to democratize coding by creating an open-source alternative to proprietary AI code editors. Their mission was to address the overwhelming complexity and fragmented nature of available AI tools, solve issues with knowledge gaps about latest AI advancements, and address privacy concerns with closed-source AI tools. The company was accepted into Y Combinator's F24 (Fall 2024) batch.
