Founding Story
Soumyadeb Mitra started RudderStack after seeing at 8x8 how difficult it was for engineering teams to build customer-data infrastructure and CDP use cases. The company began as an open-source, privacy-focused alternative to closed CDPs: instead of storing customer data in a proprietary black box, it used a warehouse-native architecture so customers could retain control in their own data cloud.
