Board of Directors
Founding Story
Snowflake was founded in 2012 by data warehousing experts Benoit Dageville, Thierry Cruanes, and Marcin Zukowski. The founders sought to reinvent the data warehouse for the cloud, specifically by separating storage from compute to allow for independent scaling. The name 'Snowflake' was inspired by the founders' shared passion for snow sports and as a nod to the fact that every customer's data architecture is unique, like a snowflake.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Consumption-based pricing using 'Snowflake Credits' for compute and a flat fee for data storage and transfer.
Pricing Tiers
Basic features for data warehousing.
