Founding Story
Snyk was founded in 2015 by Guy Podjarny, Assaf Hefetz, and Danny Grander. Podjarny's motivation came from his experience at Akamai (after acquiring his previous company Blaze), where he noticed that while developers were responsible for performance, security remained siloed. The founders aimed to build security tools that adopted the usability and distribution of developer-first DevOps tools like GitHub and New Relic. They initially targeted the Node.js ecosystem, launching a free CLI tool to detect vulnerabilities in npm dependencies.
