Products & Services
Managed cloud browser infrastructure: API-controlled Chrome sessions with scale, session observability, persistent profiles, proxies, CAPTCHA solving and enterprise controls.
Open-source, self-hostable browser API/server for AI agents and apps; supports Docker or local deployment, REST/CDP and Selenium-compatible workflows.
Persistent browser identities that preserve authentication and state across agent sessions, with read-only and human-in-the-loop flows.
Device configuration for running agent browser sessions with mobile-style interfaces.
Market Position
Steel positions itself as the open-source-first alternative in cloud browser infrastructure for AI agents: developers can self-host Steel Browser or use Steel Cloud. Its differentiation is a batteries-included API with persistent identities, observability, proxy/CAPTCHA and stealth capabilities, while comparable providers include Browserbase, Kernel and Hyperbrowser.

Founding Story
Hussien Hussien and Nasr Mohamed started Steel to give AI agents a browser they could genuinely control, rather than forcing developers to assemble and operate difficult Kubernetes, VM and browser-automation infrastructure. The initial vision was open-source browser APIs that let agents use a full virtual browser with mouse, keyboard and web access.
