Products & Services
Hosted or self-hosted business intelligence and semantic-layer platform. It lets non-technical users explore governed warehouse data, build dashboards, compare and blend measures safely, deliver results to Google Sheets, and expose the model to agents through API/MCP interfaces.
Standalone open-source semantic layer that accepts business-level query specifications and returns deterministic SQL or a refusal. It does not connect to or execute against the warehouse; it supports the zsql CLI/server, agent workflows and custom data applications.
Open-source lightweight data-warehouse adapter library with a unified interface, SQL function translation, connection pooling and metadata support across multiple database systems.
Market Position
Strata positions itself as a semantic layer built for the people asking questions rather than only for data modelers: it combines self-service BI, an agent-native query interface and grain-safe cross-domain blending. Its own materials contrast it with Power BI, Tableau and Looker plus AI chat, and its 0sql materials compare the product with Cube and MetricFlow, emphasizing broader measure expressiveness, automatic multi-fact blending, semantic routing, row-level security and refusal of unresolvable requests rather than returning plausible but incorrect SQL.

Founding Story
Ajo Abraham left Netflix in 2025 after using his final two-and-a-half years there to develop a semantic-layer BI product for self-service analytics. He started Strata to build a B2B business around the idea that business users should be able to explore broad, governed data without the implementation and maintenance burden of traditional tools such as Looker, MicroStrategy and Tableau. The initial plan was to form an LLC and delay outside funding until product-market fit was clearer.
Business Model
Revenue Model

Pricing Tiers
Includes 25 users and 1 developer; 2 data sources per project; additional users are $3/user/month and developers $29/developer/month.
Includes 100 users and 3 developers; unlimited data sources per project and row-level security; additional users are $6/user/month and developers $99/developer/month.
Cloud or self-hosted; includes Team features plus airgapped deployment and custom seats and support.
