Board of Directors
Founding Story
Surfer began in 2017 as a side project created by Lucjan Suski after hours while working at an SEO agency in Poland. The agency manually analyzed competitors, which inspired Lucjan to develop an internal tool to streamline these operations. He created the initial version with his brother Michał and presented a closed beta at an SEO conference in Poland where over 100 people signed up. Five co-founders (consisting of marketers, engineers, and developers) decided to cut their salaries for one year and bootstrap the company to avoid venture capital and grow at a manageable rate. The company was intentionally positioned for the global market from inception - they never translated the tool into Polish. A pivotal moment came at the Chiang Mai SEO Conference where Surfer was considered one of the 'biggest discoveries.'
