Products & Services
Universal, typed style library and primitives for React Native and web, with tokens, themes, media queries, SSR support, and runtime operation that can be optimized at compile time.
Optimizing compiler for Tamagui Core and UI that extracts styles into atomic CSS, hoists static work, and flattens component trees.
Accessible, composable, copy-paste React Native UI components that render on web and native, including stacks, forms, menus, panels, content, and functional primitives.
Tailwind utility-class frontend for Tamagui; the same className source compiles to atomic CSS on web and React Native styles on iOS and Android.
Market Position
Tamagui positions itself as a performance-first alternative to runtime-heavy cross-platform styling and UI systems: it combines a universal style library, component kit, and optimizing compiler, with web atomic-CSS extraction and native tree flattening. Its Tailwind frontend competes with cross-platform utility solutions such as NativeWind and Uniwind, while its component and styling capabilities overlap with libraries such as React Native Paper, NativeBase, Dripsy, and web-first systems such as Stitches. Its differentiator is one typed styling/compiler model spanning React Native and web, now supplemented by a native runtime and React Strict DOM.

Founding Story
Tamagui began as a project to share more code between native and web components while retaining modern styling features such as responsive styles, themes, tokens, variants, and shorthands. It started as a fork of JSXStyle, was rebuilt for React Native Web, and grew out of work on a cross-platform app that needed a good web-and-native user experience; after years of internal use, it was released publicly in alpha in September 2021.
Business Model
Revenue Model
The core Tamagui project is free, open-source software. The 1.0 announcement says it was self-funded and supported development through sponsorships offering early access to selected features; the company also develops related commercial products and services, but this research found no reliable public Tamagui revenue figure.
