Tripo
Tripo/VAST builds 3D-native foundation models and an end-to-end generative-3D ecosystem that turns text, images, sketches and multiview references into usable 3D assets. Its stated direction is to make 3D creation, editing and interaction accessible to creators, developers and enterprises, and ultimately support persistent interactive worlds.

Market Position
Tripo competes with Meshy, Rodin/Hyper3D, Spline, Immersity, Wonder Studio and Layer AI in generative 3D. It positions itself as a full-stack 3D-native foundation-model and production pipeline company rather than only a prompt-to-mesh app, emphasizing its own models, topology-aware Smart Mesh, texturing/rigging/segmentation/export, developer API and workflow tooling.

Executive Team
Simon Song (Song Yachen)
Founder and CEO
Johns Hopkins alumnus; former SenseTime AI gaming/animation leader and MiniMax co-founder.

Chief Technology Officer
Tsinghua University PhD; previously led general vision and LLM efforts at SenseTime.
Founding Story
Simon Song has described starting the company after seeing how slow, expensive and specialist-dependent 3D production was. An initial consumer experiment, Holy Moly, aimed at a 3D TikTok-style experience exposed the production bottleneck; the team therefore focused on building its own 3D foundation models and a product pipeline that could generate usable assets in seconds, with a longer-term ambition to help build virtual worlds.
Business Model
