Founding Story
Twilio was started by Jeff Lawson, Evan Cooke, and John Wolthuis to remove the specialized telecom knowledge, hardware, and carrier complexity that developers historically needed to add voice and messaging to software. Their initial vision was to bring communications to the cloud through simple developer APIs, effectively making telecom a programmable building block.
