Products & Services
A macOS and Windows desktop application that indexes audio/video archives locally, transcribes speech on-device, supports keyword and semantic search, returns timestamped passages, and exports selected clips as MP4, MP3 or WAV.
Market Position
Ugle positions itself as a privacy- and architecture-first alternative to cloud transcription and media-search tools: transcription, semantic indexing and search run locally, with no uploads, no telemetry and no per-search fees. Product Hunt discussions explicitly contrast the use case with cloud services such as Descript and Otter, while Ugle competes on source protection, offline operation and fast retrieval rather than cloud collaboration.

Tejas Pancholi
Product Hunt identifies Pancholi as the maker/founder who built Ugle. His public LinkedIn profile describes him as a technology leader and architect focused on SaaS, AI/ML and cloud, and also as an advisor and investor.
Founding Story
Ugle began after its creator could remember that a specific thing had been said in one of hundreds of hours of recordings but could not find it by scrubbing files or searching filenames. The first version uploaded files to a server, but an investigative journalist's immediate question—where the audio went—made the team reconsider the architecture. Ugle was rebuilt around on-device transcription and local indexing because source-sensitive journalism workflows should not require trusting a cloud server with recordings.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Annual per-machine software licences for individuals, custom commercial subscriptions for organizations, and enterprise deployments with centralized administration, MDM packaging, air-gapped support and priority IT onboarding. Ugle emphasizes no per-search token or usage-based fees.
Pricing Tiers
One personal licence, unlimited library size, 90+ languages, clip export and updates for 12 months. Solo licences activate on up to two machines owned by the same person.
No file limit and no credit card; after 15 days the app continues in read-only mode with the existing index searchable.
Education licences require enrollment or employment verification; non-commercial use requires confirmation that no commercial benefit is being earned.
For newsroom-wide, large-team or air-gapped deployments; includes team licensing, centralized administration, consolidated billing, MDM packaging and IT onboarding options.
