Products & Services
Unified software platform combining high-performance storage, database services, containerized compute, real-time processing and agentic execution for AI and data-intensive workloads.
Universal storage foundation that persists files, objects, volumes and tables in a single namespace with erasure coding and data reduction.
AI-native transactional and analytical database supporting structured data, vectors, streams, catalogs, logs and contextual metadata, with ACID compliance.
Serverless compute orchestration and execution framework for scheduled or event-driven Python functions and pipelines, including a native Kafka-compatible broker.
Market Position
VAST positions itself as an AI-native alternative to legacy file/object storage and separate storage, database and compute stacks, using DASE and a unified AI OS to combine performance, scale and simpler operations. Reported alternatives and competitors include WEKA, DDN, Dell Technologies, NetApp, Pure Storage, Qumulo, IBM, HPE, Nutanix and DataStax; it also competes with hyperscaler and lakehouse infrastructure for AI data workloads.

Founding Story
Founded in 2016 at the beginning of the deep-learning era, VAST started from a blank sheet of paper to reimagine distributed systems for AI's massive data and compute requirements. Its initial vision was the Disaggregated Shared Everything (DASE) architecture, intended to remove tradeoffs among scale, simplicity, performance and cost.
Business Model
Revenue Model
Enterprise software subscriptions and capacity/compute licensing, primarily through the Gemini model. Customers purchase hardware directly from verified manufacturing partners while licensing VAST software from VAST; subscriptions commonly include VAST Co-Pilot services.
