Founding Story
Zoho grew out of two bootstrapped operations begun in 1995: a Chennai home-based engineering effort and Tony Thomas's New Jersey bedroom operation focused on telecom/network-management software. Sridhar Vembu joined Tony in 1997 to sell the software, and the founders reinvested early sales in R&D; after the 2001 telecom/dot-com collapse, they reinvented the business around ManageEngine (2002) and cloud applications under Zoho.com (2005), later changing the corporate name from AdventNet to Zoho Corporation in 2009.
