Founding Story
Shane Evans from Ireland and Pablo Hoffman from Uruguay met in 2007 when organizations were clamoring for web data to power their businesses but no credible solutions existed. They recognized the growing need for web data and started building web spiders for third parties to fuel their data needs. Pablo created Scrapy, the open-source web scraping framework. Shane focused on building infrastructure to run these spiders at scale. In 2010, they founded the company as Scrapinghub with a vision to make web data extraction accessible to everyone, regardless of technical expertise. From the beginning, they built it as a remote-first company powered by a global workforce.
