Market Position
Epic Web differentiates from passive video-course platforms through deeply practical, opinionated workshops delivered in a dedicated app with exercises, code, diffs, playgrounds, local development integration, certificates, and community support. Its principal alternatives include Frontend Masters, egghead.io, Udemy, Pluralsight, and free documentation/tutorials; Epic Web is positioned around Kent C. Dodds' proven full-stack methodology and the Epic Stack rather than broad technology survey content.

Founding Story
Kent C. Dodds had long wanted to create an online engineering bootcamp that could take people from learning to program to building and maintaining web applications. After leaving Remix in 2022, he pursued that goal, developing and live-streaming the Rocket Rental application and workshop app, then simplifying the approach into the Epic Stack. Epic Web launched on October 18, 2023 after live workshops were used to validate and record the curriculum.
