Market Position
Hugo positions ppt-master against AI presentation tools that output flattened images or shallow text-filled templates. Its differentiators are native PowerPoint object depth, editable data-backed charts and tables, template reuse, local execution, model/agent flexibility, and an open-source workflow rather than a closed subscription platform. The trade-off is that users need Python and an agent/model, and the model still determines output quality.
Leadership
Founders
Hugo He (何雨果)
Finance professional with 10+ years in investment and financing work. His background includes Loncin Industries (2015–2017), Deloitte Consulting (2017–2018), Red Star Macalline (2018–2022), and a power-utility engineering design institute in Chongqing (2023–present). He identifies as a CPA, CPV/asset appraiser, and Consulting Engineer (Investment), and holds an international economics and trade degree from Chongqing University.
Founding Story
Hugo He created ppt-master from a recurring professional problem: AI-generated slides often look acceptable but arrive in PowerPoint as flattened images that cannot be edited. He wanted a workflow that reasons about content and design, then exports real PowerPoint shapes, text boxes, charts, tables, masters, animations, and speaker notes; he released it as a free open-source project and continues to maintain it independently.
Business Model
Revenue Model
ppt-master is free and open source with no PPT subscription; users supply their own agent/model access and pay only for any AI-model usage. The project also accepts sponsorships. Hugo's construction-evaluation site is described as an early trial with limited free runs for initial accounts, but no broader pricing plan is stated.
Pricing Tiers
MIT-licensed; runs through agent-capable AI tools, with AI-model usage as the user's separate cost.
The README describes these initial free-run terms for the early trial.
