Products & Services
Free, open-source desktop application for macOS, Windows (Alpha), and Linux (Alpha) that coordinates coding agents in isolated git-backed workspaces. It bundles/manages the Rust intentd backend daemon.
iPhone and iPad remote-control app for paired Intent computers: users can start and manage workspaces, chat with agents, answer questions, inspect notes/diffs/terminals/browser previews, monitor PRs, and review changes while away from the computer.
Rust backend daemon used by Intent; it can be bundled with the desktop app or installed separately for remote machines and advanced/headless use.
Market Position
Intent positions itself as an open-source, workspace-first coordination layer for many coding agents rather than a single-model chat interface or a conventional IDE copilot. Its differentiators are provider/model interchangeability, coordinator-and-specialist workflows, shared task specs, isolated Git workspaces, built-in PR/browser/terminal tooling, and the ability to move work between computers. Comparable alternatives include IDE-native coding agents, terminal agent harnesses, and cloud multi-agent development platforms.

Founders
Clement Pang
Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Sutter Hill Ventures; previously co-founded Lirvana Labs (2021–2025), co-founded Wavefront (2013–2017, acquired by VMware for $400M), served as a VMware VP/Principal Engineer (2017–2021), was a founding engineer at GLMX (2010–2013), and a Staff Software Engineer at Google (2007–2010).
Founding Story
Clement Pang describes Intent as a rethinking of software development for a world in which people set direction and agents execute. Public posts describe it as a Sutter Hill Ventures-associated project that was used for multi-agent product development from January 2026 and then released as free, open-source software; the initial vision was to coordinate coding harnesses and models across isolated tasks rather than constrain developers to a single agent or chat thread.
Business Model
Revenue Model
The official documentation describes Intent as free and open-source. The application is distributed as downloadable desktop software and the mobile companion is distributed through the Apple App Store; users bring/connect their own supported agent providers and model accounts.
