Founding Story
Founded by Italian schoolmates Augusto Marietti and Marco Palladino in 2009 as Mashape in Milan. After moving to San Francisco in 2010 with minimal resources, they launched a successful API marketplace. In 2015, they released the open-source Kong Gateway to handle internal API needs, which quickly became their primary focus, leading to the company's rebranding as Kong Inc. in 2017.
