Founding Story
MGX was conceived in 2023 shortly after the launch of ChatGPT as Abu Dhabi recognized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and the need for a dedicated investment vehicle to participate in the global AI race. The Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC) was established in January 2024, followed by the official launch of MGX on March 12, 2024, with Mubadala Investment Company and G42 as founding partners. The company was created to serve as a UAE national champion for AI and advanced technologies, leveraging Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth, extensive network of global technology partners, and existing investments in companies like GlobalFoundries, Khazna, M42, and Space42. MGX aims to accelerate AI's responsible and inclusive development for the benefit of humanity while establishing the UAE as a home and ecosystem for top technology talent, investors, and entrepreneurs.
