MGX (Atoms)

MGX, now rebranded as Atoms (atoms.dev), is a web-based AI development platform built on the MetaGPT multi-agent framework. It lets anyone describe an idea in plain language and receive a working, deployable full-stack application — complete with user authentication, database storage, Stripe payments, and hosting — without writing a single line of code. The platform launched publicly in February 2025 and, according to the MetaGPT GitHub README, reached #1 Product of the Day and #1 Product of the Week on Product Hunt in March 2025.

What It Is

Atoms is a no-code, AI-agent-powered app builder that orchestrates a team of specialized AI "employees" to handle every stage of product development: market research, product planning, architecture, engineering, SEO, and paid advertising. The underlying framework is MetaGPT, an open-source multi-agent system (MIT license, 69K+ GitHub stars) that assigns distinct roles to LLMs so they collaborate like a software company. The hosted product at mgx.dev / atoms.dev is a commercial SaaS layer on top of that open-source core.

The AI Agent Team

Atoms surfaces eight named AI agents, each with a defined role:

• Iris (Deep Researcher) – finds market demand and niches using deep research
• Emma (Product Manager) – converts ideas into clear specs and scope
• Bob (Architect) – designs the system blueprint for scalability
• Alex (Engineer) – builds the production-ready full-stack app
• Mike (Team Leader) – coordinates agents end-to-end and requests human approval at key steps
• David (Data Analyst) – analyzes data to surface marketing insights
• Sarah (SEO Specialist) – automates SEO page creation and optimization
• Adrian (Ads Specialist) – manages Google Ads campaign creation, tracking, and optimization

Open-Source Lineage

The MetaGPT framework powering Atoms is published under the MIT License at github.com/FoundationAgents/MetaGPT. The repository has accumulated over 69,000 stars and nearly 9,000 forks. Academic work from the team has appeared at ICLR, NeurIPS, and ACL; the AFlow paper received an oral presentation (top 1.8%) at ICLR 2025. The commercial Atoms platform is a separate hosted product and is not itself open source.

Update: MGX Becomes Atoms (2025)

The product originally launched as MGX (MetaGPT X) at mgx.dev on February 19, 2025. The platform has since been rebranded to Atoms at atoms.dev, with mgx.dev redirecting there. The MetaGPT GitHub README notes the #1 Product Hunt rankings in March 2025. The homepage also announces that GPT-5.6 Sol is now available as a supported model, signaling ongoing model integration updates. The underlying MetaGPT open-source framework's latest tagged release is v0.8.1 (April 2024), while the hosted Atoms product continues to evolve independently.
