Founding Story
Founded in April 2023 by three former classmates from Ecole Polytechnique who previously worked as AI researchers at Google DeepMind and Meta. The founders were frustrated with the AI industry's shift toward proprietary models and sought to steer development back toward open source and capital efficiency. They envisioned an approach to AI that challenges the opaque-box nature of big AI companies, aiming to make cutting-edge technology accessible to all. The company name is derived from the mistral wind in southern France.
