Patrick Morgan
Patrick Morgan is an individual software/product designer, writer, and solo creator—not an organization or company. He builds useful, well-crafted things across design, code, writing, and strategy; his current independent work includes Unknown Arts, a newsletter for creative builders in the age of AI, and Design Studio, an open-source AI prototype sandbox.

Products & Services
An open-source, local AI prototype sandbox for designers and product managers who build with coding agents. It combines interactive prototypes, wireframes, Mermaid diagrams, Excalidraw canvases, Markdown documents, reusable design systems, product context, and agent guidance in a folder the user owns. It is MIT licensed and can publish static viewing sites.
Patrick Morgan's newsletter and field guide for designers and product managers building with AI; the official site describes it as a newsletter for creative builders in the age of AI and reports more than 7,000 subscribers.
A deterministic pattern generator for writing, publishing, and site visuals, published in Morgan's Lab.
A split-flap text animation built from Geist Pixel and Geist Sans, published in Morgan's Lab.
Market Position
Design Studio is positioned as a middle layer between disconnected AI-generated prototypes and the complexity of prototyping directly in a production application. Its differentiation is local ownership of code and context, reusable design systems, multiple artifact types, and agent-native workflows. Conceptually it overlaps with Figma/FigJam-style design collaboration, code-first prototyping environments, and AI coding/prototyping tools, but emphasizes a portable, open-source workspace rather than a hosted design editor or a proprietary agent.

Executive Team
Patrick Morgan
Independent software/product designer, writer, and creator
Based in Los Angeles. Currently Staff Product Designer at Sublime Security; creator of Unknown Arts and Design Studio. His prior roles include American Express, Tenable, Signal Sciences/Fastly, JupiterOne, and Leo Burnett.
Founding Story
Morgan describes a non-linear path through music, theater, advertising, code, design, and writing, ultimately following his interest in turning ideas into useful things. Design Studio grew out of a problem he encountered at Sublime Security: AI prototypes were fast but isolated from the product, while prototyping directly in production was too complex; he built a middle ground that keeps prototypes, design systems, context, and agent workflows together, then released it openly.
Business Model
Revenue Model
The publicly documented independent projects are an open-source MIT-licensed tool and a newsletter. Design Studio is distributed freely; the public pages do not describe a paid Design Studio plan or usage-based pricing. Unknown Arts offers subscriptions, but the inspected pages do not establish a price or paid-revenue model.
Pricing Tiers
Released openly under the MIT License; users run it locally and choose their own repository and hosting.
